Date at home: 4 pasos para tener una cita en casa

Date at home: 4 steps to have a date at home

This year we're moving away from the clichés of Valentine's Day: no roses, no chocolates, no fancy dinners at expensive restaurants. This date is about love and intimacy, two terms that fit perfectly into the definition of home.

Whether alone, with your partner, your friends or even with your pet, your home can be the best place to treat yourself to a special moment. That's why we've redefined the term Blue Valentine and turned it into a The Blue House style evening that can be summed up in 4 basic elements.

Good food

An a la carte menu or a buffet may sound appealing, but for a relaxed evening we prefer a small, easy-to-prepare snack. A charcuterie board, prepared on our Albana tray, a dip, a seafood cocktail or even fondue are some dishes that would be perfect for this evening.

Good drinks

Rosé champagne is usually a classic, but for a change you can opt for a white wine with strawberries and lychees or a gin and tonic with rosemary and cucumber, which –together with our coffee tables–, complement the atmosphere of the evening and provide that characteristic spark of the date. And if you want to get more creative, we show you how to prepare 3 cocktails inspired by our furniture.

Good company

The concept of company is so broad that the person you love to share with can even be yourself. We don't pigeonhole love into just the romantic kind, instead, we celebrate the kind that starts from within and manifests itself in different ways. So, light a scented candle to create a special atmosphere and spend this day with your perfect company.

Good furniture

Closing yourself in a single space is a waste of space; the celebration can take place in the bedroom or the living room, and with the right furniture, it is possible to have multiple settings where comfort is paramount. At The Blue House we seek to make staying at home a whole experience, which – during this time – comes to life by uniting the three elements mentioned above around an elegant table and a classic sofa.
