Making of Color Pop Collection: Len and Moru edition

Inspired by those little moments, where you enjoy a coffee on the balcony or a cocktail at the bar, the Color Pop collection is about those ephemeral moments that fill life with colour, that are enjoyed slowly and remain marked in the memory.

Initially, it started with three products: a chair, a table and a mobile bar. Later, accessories for these pieces began to emerge, such as the new The Blue House vases, creating a whole furniture universe that allowed anyone interested in good design to give their home their personal touch, turning a space into their space. In this blog, we will tell you a little about the Len chair and the Moru table, two of the pieces that make up Color Pop, how the process of conception and materialization was, and how they will impact your home.

Len Chair

The Len chair was an existing piece at The Blue House, a very commercial chair on the market and present in the portfolio of several brands, as well as in the homes of hundreds of people in Medellín and Colombia in general. The objective, when launching this new version of the Len, was to give life to a new chair that met the same parameters as the previous version, such as its rod structure and simple design, but now with a new intention.

This is how a piece emerged in which its continuity stands out, because those elements that could visually cut its design were eliminated, and in the same way, new details were integrated that play with it through beginnings and endings, how its materials connect and unfold while building the piece.

Its “lattice” appearance, coming from its vertical uprights, is not a matter of chance; in fact, it was a detail designed so that, by placing the seat perpendicularly, the person sitting on this chair does so comfortably, without sliding if the cushion is removed. Likewise, this accessory, attached with four tie-down points, will remain fixed for the user's greater comfort.

When choosing the colours, we considered the overall purpose of the collection, which was to create a spot of colour in the space, especially in covered outdoor spaces, in the case of the Len and the Moru. Our designers and architects suggest not using the Len chair for main dining rooms, particularly those with four or more seats, since due to its colours and designs, it could be visually heavy and lose its main function, which is to create a disruptive focal point in the home.

Moru Table

Unlike the Len, the Moru table stands out for its simplicity, its curved lines and its light style that contrasts with its bright colours. Made up of two metal sheets joined by a tubular piece, this piece is created with the intention of complementing and balancing these spots in the home, starting from continuous curves and the absence of cuts, vertices, corners and angles to give a fluid look like the one the Len has.

Both the Moru and the Len were designed to furnish covered exteriors, since they are made of steel – a resistant material – and work perfectly in partially covered spaces such as patios, balconies or terraces. However, this does not mean that these pieces are exclusive to these spaces; in fact, they work perfectly when integrated into small corners of living rooms, libraries, studies or even kitchens.
