“Routes” a photographic exhibition by Pedro Santos
The Blue House, more than a furniture brand, is a tribute to art, good design and local talent. That is why our Bogotá gallery was the venue for “Recorridos”, Pedro Santos’ latest photography exhibition, which took place last March. A route around the world narrated in images that show the beauty of different cultures and exotic landscapes.
Pedro Santos, a young man from Bogotá passionate about photography, travel and nature, ambassador of the LGBTIQ+ community, design entrepreneur, owner of established sites in the capital – such as Casa Menguante and La Comuna –, was the guest photographer of this exhibition, in which – through his images – he recounted experiences that took place from La Guajira, Colombia to Kyoto, Japan.
We had the opportunity to ask the author of these works some questions, in order to learn more about him and his work, and these were his answers.
What does Pedro Santos understand by art?
“Art is a way of living and perceiving things. Art is the way each person sees life. Art is the decisions we make every day to enjoy life and our way of seeing it.”
What is your main inspiration as a photographer?
“My main inspiration as a photographer comes from nature and the observation of human beings. I enjoy seeing everyday moments and trying to capture moments with the lens.”
What stories do your photographs tell?
“I think that more than stories, they are moments, they are feelings. They are colors, glances, hugs. They are instants. The story is left to the interpretation of whoever sees it.”
What is your favorite photograph from this exhibition and what was happening at the time it was captured?
“I don’t think I have a favorite photograph from the exhibition. They all have their charm. Perhaps the one of the Wayuu indigenous people is one of the strangest because they were two twins who appeared out of nowhere and the moment was quite surreal. Maybe that is what I enjoy most about my photography. The doors that open by themselves and allow me to live surreal moments.”
Tell us a little about the exhibition that took place at The Blue House gallery in Bogotá.
“The exhibition “Routes” is a collection of photos from my life over the last four years. On my trips around Colombia and the world. It is the extension of my eye and my emotions. Although they are not physically visible, I believe that the moments captured carry a lot of emotion. Whether it is because of the light, the expression of the person or the colors of nature. They are small moments that become an entire life. They are trapped in time and freeze stories that have no past or future, but exist in the present forever.”
Finally, these are some of the photographs –under his authorship– that were exhibited in our gallery.
