Tejido a fuego lento desde la raíz.

Slowly woven from the roots.

Ancestral wisdom.

When we talk about crafts, we are generally referring to products that differ in the way they have been made, the meaning we attribute to them, the type of use we give them, the tradition we suppose they represent. In short, it can be said in a general way that a craftsman is a person who works mainly with his hands, with his more or less simple instruments but loaded with unique components and in which each object made, he materializes his tradition, ingenuity and creativity. “We are contemporary locals.”

We took on the task of developing this textile journey step by step, starting from the location where it took place - San Jacinto- / Colombia, the cradle of the vertical loom where we started from the basis of recovering, respecting, strengthening and incorporating into the contemporary market the traditions and raw materials of this region of the Caribbean coast. The quality of the fabric, in this case, was based on the type of fiber used, a perfect combination of 100% cotton threads and some satin threads that due to their characteristics have greater strength, freshness and durability, under the range of the winter palette.

The work began by wrapping the thread that was to be used for weaving in a skein around the two vertical sticks of the frame. Since there was a lot of thread spun into the skein, a shuttle made of strong wood was taken in the shape of a small boat, openworked in the centre and on which the thread had been previously wound. Thus the weaver began to intertwine it with the warp threads and little by little the characteristic mesh weft that was specially designed for you is formed. Before beginning to weave the weft, the entire edge is woven in an original way, which is what constitutes the edge of the fabric. This is what encompasses the immense significance and the way in which this piece is produced on the loom and the use that we give it supposes and represents something special.

In a poem that refers to Ancestral wisdom - Hugo Jamioy - narrator and researcher divides his time and his weaving craft and gives us poetry that is well worth noting in this process.

“Poetry is the wind that speaks
Following in the footsteps of ancient traces.
Poetry is a flower bud made into words;
The aroma emerges from its color
That catches the dancers in the air.
In its entrails it keeps the nectar that intoxicates the hummingbird when it comes to making love.
Poetry is the magic of orchids
His beautiful verses made colors
They feed on the past life of old wood.
Poetry is the ferment of sap for every era.
The messages arrive, get intoxicated and dance away with time.
Craftsmanship is poetry that flies, comes and goes!
