Women's Day Special: Meet Laura Arango

This Women's Month we have interviewed three women we deeply admire. In this edition we will introduce you to Laura Arango, creator of Laura Arango Design, an interior design studio based in the city of Medellín. Continue reading to learn a little more about her:

Tell us a little about yourself. Who are you as a professional and as a woman?

“My name is Laura Arango. I am a psychologist by profession and I have been working in interior design for 7 years. Who am I as a woman? So many things! First of all, I consider myself a person who tries to work on herself every day, focusing on evolution in every sense. I like to see how as life progresses, I manage to live more connected to my passions, surrounded by people who really contribute to it and how I am increasingly sincere about my dreams and life goals. I consider myself a dynamic, active, hard-working woman passionate about design, art, aesthetics, spirituality, travel, sports, good nutrition, adventure and nature.”

What makes you proud to be a woman?

“First, my process as a person and as a professional. Second, the strength that I know we all share deep in our souls: We are badasses.”

What role do you think women play in the home today?

“Oh! Nowadays… everything! That’s why I feel a lot of respect and total admiration for women. But I also think it’s nice, when you’re in a relationship, to respect certain roles and be able to complement each other and be a team.”

How do you transform a space into a home?

“I am convinced that the home brings us a lot in various aspects of our lives and I feel that a space can be transformed into a home, first of all, by considering it as our temple. This respect leads us to love it, contemplate it and make it our own; for this last point, it is essential to be able to project personality in every corner of our house. This is really what I believe makes it possible to turn a space into a home. And this is precisely the DNA and the objective of Laura Arango Design: That among all the alternatives and styles that exist, we can identify the one that best describes the person and thus be able to generate this powerful connection between the space and the person who inhabits it.”

What are your favorite The Blue House pieces and how do you think they allow you to express your femininity?

“Many! But my favorite piece is definitely the Qblan Bed, I feel that it gives a lot of character and personality to the rooms where I have placed it. I think that, in general, all the pieces from The Blue House could allow me to express my femininity, because I firmly believe that it is a matter of how they are displayed and looked in the spaces.”
